Meeting a priest

Obsidian moved high in the ranks of the Katai (priestess), her teachers the Katan (priests) where frightened by how quickly she mastered the Arcane Arts. After becoming the High Katai, her village, Valen, was swept by an odd disease that affected the mind in terrible ways. She did all she could to help her people but nothing worked. Leaving the care of the ill to her apprentice, she set off into the world to see if other lands were affected by this same disaster. Having found no sign of it anywhere, she then continued her journey, searching for something that could help her people before it was too late.
